Basic Tips: Be sure to attach your swimbait so It is centered on the hook to produce optimum swimming action. 5 inch swimbaits work well with 3/4 oz and 1 1/2 oz Thunder Blades. 4 inch swimbaits work well with 3/8 oz or 3/4 oz (4/0) Thunder Blades. After catching a fish, tune the lure to its original shape to assure the best retrieve. Using a lubricant on the blades (WD40) helps keep them like new after use in salt water. Using scent on your swimbaits (Uni Butter) will help attract more fish. Try different retrieves when using the Thunder Blade, such as slow, medium, fast, stop & go, steady.
Advanced Tips: Use 50 lb braid when fishing with the Thunder Blade. You will find that you'll have increased sensitivity. Braid does not affect how many bites you will get since the Thunder Blade produces a reaction bite. Try using brown and orange skirts when you are fishing brown and orange and Halloween colored swimbaits. Using a skirt helps to attract fish due to the creature like appearance the skirt gives the bait. When fishing boiler rocks, it seems that red Thunder Blades get bit more often. Be sure to let the bait drop down in front of the boiler rock and then use a stop and go retrieve. When fishing kelp lines, cast as far as you can and let the Thunder Blade drop. A slow retrieve along the kelp line with occasional pauses works well. |
